Ingredients:
- 1 boneless milkfish, cut into 6 pieces
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for sauteing)
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, vinegar, oyster sauce, water, brown sugar, garlic, and onion.
- Add the milkfish pieces to the marinade and toss to coat evenly.
- Let the milkfish marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
- Heat the vegetable oil for frying in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Remove the milkfish pieces from the marinade and pat them dry.
- Fry the milkfish pieces until they are golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the milkfish from the skillet and set aside.
- Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in the same skillet over medium heat.
- Add the onion slices to the skillet and saute until they are softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Pour the marinade into the skillet and bring it to a simmer.
- Add the fried milkfish pieces back to the skillet and simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until the milkfish is cooked through.
- Serve the milkfish steak with rice and enjoy.
